January is unstoppable. Cruising through like an ocean liner in full steam, her focus has been relentless. In her wake she has brought forth more changes than I could possibly have imagined. Although the buffeting has been more than disturbing, it is only by braving the breakers that you can ride the waves. Old wounds, very old wounds have been knocked open and poison cleared at last. Yes, the process is excruciating - but true healing cannot happen while the poison remains. Ideas, ventures and opportunities have popped up like sunbeams of hope over a new horizon, and the changes I have wanted, but have resisted for so long are happening now. The tide has turned, and Life is flowing.
Why do we get stuck? How do we get stuck? Is it just that we become lazy and bored and believe we are too tired, too old and too worn down to change? I think it is far more complicated than that! Give a child freedom to explore and she will keep exploring, learning, laughing. Lock her down in the same place day after day, and she will soon become sickened with inertia. This fact of life doesn't change as you get older!
My friends the Twins are 79 this year. They have never stopped exploring and they have never stopped learning and laughing either. They simply do not understand those of us who lost our way, and ceased to look about and find the fun from life.
If the 'real' you wants change, then change WILL come to you. Even if the 'little' you resists it unto great discomfort, the changes you deeply desire will be yours. When your ship sets sail and the changes start to flow, let them go... You don't have to drown in the process!
