Does this mean we should never become attached to anyone or anything? Does this mean we shouldn't care?
To become attached, seems to be riding for a fall. If we think we cannot live without that person, or this house or those shoes, we have given ourselves a time limit on our happiness, because all things pass with time. Should we even bother to care at all, if the end result is to be so final and painful? Of course we care! We are human, and caring gives us a wonderful feeling in the now - and remember, the now is the only place where we ever find ourselves.
So caring is okay and attachment is not? One has to wonder how not to become attached! If someone or something makes us feel good, we want to keep going back - we want more... Isn't that attachment? Perhaps.
The trick is to be okay to let it go at any time. To enjoy it while it lasts, and then release it with joy - to stay in the moment and move on. To release the old means to make room for the new. To store old things, just because of how they used to feel, simply fills up the spaces, like an untidy cupboard full of dust and broken promises, old loves and lost emotions.
Let it go and look to the new horizon!
Life waits there in all its vibrancy and awesome colours - come and feel the loving pulse of the Universe as it leads you on and on.
Let go of the past, and be free... :-)
