Christmas time means many things to many people, but often as we grow from childhood, it becomes a desperate time when we are 'supposed' to be joyful and happy. Sometimes we are happy, but sometimes the opposite is true. It seems to me happiness is a state of being - not a date in the calendar. It is not something you can book in for and arrange for a future point in time. You are either happy - or you are not, and it is up to us to choose in the moment how we wish to be.
Today is Boxing Day, and many people are out in the shops bargain hunting. Some enjoy this cut and thrust to save a few quid. Some do not enjoy it, but do it anyway because they are afraid of missing out - other people are doing it, so they too believe they must.
The rainbow on the hill yesterday reminded me once again of the transient nature of life on Earth. We are here for such a short while, so let's enjoy it. As children we all came in as beams of light, and as the years go by we get to choose whether or not we let that light in us grow dim. We are all glowing lights if we did but know it. We can all shine if we allow it. When we no longer worry what others think of us, or what we think of them, and when we stop living in fear of lack or missing out, we can truly step into the colours of the rainbows that we all really are. Happy Christmas!
