Instead of a neat, ordered, sanitised green sward with tight and uncomfortable borders, I have a multi-coloured, multi-layered mini rain forest, right here on my door step! It is absolutely beautiful and bursting with Life.
Earlier in the season I had bluebells, welsh poppies then daisies and buttercups, and now I have tall, elegant grasses of all kinds, ferns, drifts of white and red clover dotted with bees, and bold and vibrant borage, self seeded from last year - so pretty and edible! In among all these are countless other flowers and greenery, all in perfect balance, one with another.
To lie on the ground under a clear blue sky, peaceful and safe on a blanket of clover is truly special - you never want to get up... There is no need to get up, because there is nothing to do. I have let go of such nonsense as trimming the edges and weeding the beds - why would I want to do that when I can be FEELING the pulse of the Earth as it draws life to and through all things. Why bother with control when you can give it up to the divine creator who does a far, far better job anyway! There is SO much more life in a wild garden than a space populated with sad, mutated beings from a garden centre! In the wild, things grow with the power and blessings of the universe behind them - nothing is forced to move or perform in a certain way - everything is just as it is supposed to be.
We can learn all there is about life and death and everything we need from the wisdom of the wild things...
After all, when we let go and remember, we ARE the wild things.
