For three days and three nights I spent the time entirely alone, save a few moments in every day when Carlos, my support on this journey, checked in to make sure I was still on the planet...
While 'out' I wrote a great deal, and this I am going to publish quite soon.
It was scary at times, and with little food and no usual distractions it was often hard to be in my own company. Our thoughts are not always our best friends - but there are others to be found.
One thing I have come away with is the recognition of the aliveness in all things. When we look at a tree as we normally do - give it a moment, that's a nice tree - and then move on, we do not have the time to truly notice its vibrancy and resonance. When 'out' with nothing to do but notice, life jumps out with colour, form and intensity as never before! This is life in full spate. This is life coursing through living cells.
Life exists everywhere - even in a brick wall - but in the wall it barely moves. Cities and buildings contain life, but it is almost static.
Nature however is flooded and pulsing with life force and vibrancy.
So a person may stand in a wood and say "There's nothing going on here!" But really, everything is going on.
